Spotlight on Service: Inspire, Inform, Connect!

Interested in learning more about homelessness?
Want to visit a local organization working to help people in poverty?
On SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18, from 9:15AM-1PM, Spotlight on Service will be visiting Shelter Network, a local homeless and poverty resource center for a tour from Dr. Brian Greenburg. Afterwards, there will be a discussion/reflection session with the Director of the Stanford Center for the Study of Poverty & Inequality, Professor David Grusky and student leader, Ellie Titus, from SPOON.
If you're interested, e-mail spotlightonservice@gmail.com by 5pm on Tuesday, October 14th.
15 participants will be chosen from the application pool on a random basis and informed on Tuesday evening.

Mr. Franklin Williams, a Santa Cruz community activist is coming to campus to talk about his experiences feeding the hungry in the community and connecting numerous non-profits to help people lead better lives.
He will also be outlining the problems facing starvation here in the Greater Bay Area through a multimedia presentation and sharing his experiences founding OnePointFive- a non-profit venture- to alleviate these problems.
He is certainly quite the character and is an instructor at UC Santa Cruz.
Event will be in 550-550A (Near Geology Corner), Tuesday Feb 12 from 7-8:30 PM. We encourage you to come with an open mind as we hope to have a lively audience driven Q&A session!
